Monte Schmidt, President
I began my heating and air conditioning career in 1975 through a trade program in Iowa and have been in the trade since then. That is 40 years as of May, 2015. We began in geothermal installations in 1998 and have become one of the leading geothermal companies in Colorado. I am married to my lovely wife, Renee, and we recently celebrated 25 years together. We have 4 children, 6 grandchildren and enjoy time with family. We are active in our church and mission work in Central America and locally. I also enjoy boating, fishing, golf, CU athletic events, travel, and new life experiences. As the owner of Blue Valley Heating & Cooling, I enjoy the challenge of creating an organization that will do good for our customers, our employees, and our community to provide an overall good experience for everyone involved.
Brandon Schmidt, Operations Manager
Brandon has been working in the HVAC installation field for many years and has over 10 years of experience in the geothermal field. His primary focus is on advanced hydronics systems such as radiant floors and snowmelt systems. Specializing in advanced control schemes, Brandon is able to seamlessly integrate multiple systems, such as gas boilers, heat pumps, and domestic hot water systems for an efficient and comfortable overall system.
Gary Hughes, Sales Manager
Gary has been in the HVAC industry for over 35 years. His expertise is in sales–he know his way around our preferred heating and cooling systems (Rheem). Gary has been married for 41 years. He and his wife have 2 children,both married. They also have a fun loving shih tzu named Scrappy. His hobbies include lighthouse keeping, professional fireworks, fishing, gardening, and spending time at the Flying X Ranch in Wyoming.

Mark has thirty years experience in HVAC field management, both residential and commercial. His work includes acting as job site foreman, small project & residential bid estimates and design, field sales, and management and installation coordination. Mark has recently been spending many of his weekends in Gunnison watching his son play football for Western State.
Tom Bucher, Installation and Loop Specialist
Tom is one of the original members of the Blue Valley Heating & Cooling team. His work ethic and attitude are second-to-none, whether he’s installing a geothermal loop field manifold when it’s 5 degrees outside, or building a duct system for a custom home. Tom usually spends his weekends hanging out with his wife and 9 beagles at his home in Simla, CO.

I have been in the accounting field for 34 years. For 22 years I worked for a nonprofit and I’ve been with BVE for the past 12 years. I am married and have 2 sons. We have a cat named Ginger but I also love dogs and hope to add one to our family soon. I love walking and reading and our favorite family activity is river rafting.
